Reunion Weekend:
The Alumni Association looks forward to hosting another great Reunion in July! Classes of 1942, 1947, 1952, 1957, 1962, 1967, 1972, 1977, 1982 and 1987 will celebrate milestone reunions. Alpha Sigma Alpha/Alpha Sigma will be the featured sorority and Gamma will be the featured fraternity. As always, all members of the Half Century Club will receive invitations.

Allison Best, a senior professional writing major from Victor, N.Y., always has been a straight-A student. At SUNY Cortland, she learned how to put her skillset to good use. This year alone, she organized a popular teach-in on campus, secured a summer internship in Russia and earned five scholarships for next year.

Alumni Savor Raquette Lake, Even in Winter

Alumni who call themselves “The Iceholes” can’t get enough of the Adirondacks in the summertime, so they return in late January to the College’s Center for Environmental and Outdoor Education at Raquette Lake. They brave the elements armed with skis, snowshoes and even swimsuits. Yes, you read that last word correctly.

Douglas DeRancy, 26-Year Alumni Affairs Executive, Retires

After more than a quarter-century of service to SUNY Cortland in alumni affairs and fundraising executive positions, Douglas DeRancy ’75, M.S.Ed. ’86 retired May 31. Throughout his tenure, he worked without fanfare to establish beneficial relationships with the College’s 68,000 alumni.
