Gen. Ann Dunwoody '75 Selected to Receive NCAA’s Highest Honor


Former SUNY Cortland student-athlete and 1975 alumna Gen. Ann E. Dunwoody received the 2011 Theodore Roosevelt award, the NCAA’s highest honor. The award, also known as the “Teddy Award,” was presented on Jan. 14, during the annual NCAA Convention in San Antonio, Texas.

Two Alumni Join Buffalo’s Sports Greats

George Breen ’56 and Gail Maloney ’72 now have something else in common besides their alma mater, their passionate love and support of athletics and their Western New York ties. On Nov. 4, both were inducted into the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2010.

Memorabilia Needed for The Pub Project

The SUNY Cortland Alumni Association is creating a revolving display of historical items to be featured at the Alumni House. The first themes we are seeking are: Alpha Kappa Phi/Agonian, Sigma Sigma Sigma, Sigma Rho Sigma Sorority; Cortland Concerts; "Downtown;" Lambda Phi Delta Fraternity; National Championship Teams and Individuals, and Performing Arts. Attention Alumni who entered SUNY Cortland as Pre-Majors or “Undecided:”

Instructors for the course “Career and Major Exploration,” are seeking alumni to speak to students about their experience in discovering their majors and their eventual  careers. The alumni panel is scheduled for March 23 from 10:20-11:10 a.m. Participants will receive a special gift. Alumni willing to participate are asked to e-mail us at by March 15

Facebook History Contest Announced

Beginning on Feb. 16, the SUNY Cortland Alumni Association Facebook page will offer a weekly “Smarty Pants” question. The first person to post the correct answer to the posted question will receive a prize. Weekly winners will be entered into an annual drawing to win an "Eat and Stay" package at the Lynne Parks ’68 SUNY Cortland Alumni House. "Like" our page and post for a chance to win. Join us on Facebook
