Step 7 - Attend orientation and register for your classes.

The Advisement and Transition Office coordinates Orientation for all new students. These sessions are designed to introduce you to services and programs that are vital to your successful transition to SUNY Cortland.  The Orientation program provides both students and parents a structured and holistic introduction to our College's environment.

Transfer students will attend a one-day Transfer Transition Seminar, and First-Year students will attend a one-and-a-half day Orientation session offered in either June or July.  Information about orientation will be sent to you via myRedDragon upon receipt of your Admission Deposit.

As a new student, you will meet with your academic advisor and register for classes during the Orientation Session (freshmen) or Transfer Transition Seminar (transfers) and leave the program with your schedule of classes. If you need to adjust your schedule after the program, you can do so during the drop/add period which takes place during the first week of the semester.

Step 8 - Submit final high school transcripts.

Do we have all of your high school and college transcripts yet?  Please make sure you forward your final transcripts to SUNY Cortland, Admissions Office, P.O. Box 2000, Cortland, NY 13045.

Step 9 -Receive college credit for advanced courses taken while in high school.

Credit for Advance Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), College Level Examination Program (CLEP), college courses and other proficiency credit is awarded following the receipt of your official Advance Placement or other proficiency transcript. We have established an advancement placement program to serve students who seek recognition for achievement acquired outside the conventional college classroom.

Advance Placement scores must be sent directly from the College Board to SUNY Cortland. To see how the scores transfer as credit to SUNY Cortland see the Equivalency Charts found on the Undergraduate Admissions web site.
