3. Faculty Senate Representative
Jeff Walkuski was appointed as Interim GFEC Representative to Faculty Senate. The GFEC will discuss the nature of this position during the academic year.
4. Curriculum Change Guide
Nancy Aumann distributed the proposed Curriculum Change Guide for GFEC feedback. Any committee members wishing to provide reactions should submit comments to Joe Governali and he will forward material to John Cottone. Committee members were asked to insert Curriculum Change Guide in subject line of E-mail.
5. Thesis/Project Credit After Initial Registration
The Committee briefly discussed the issue of students registering for thesis or project credit in semesters following their initial registration. A policy has been proposed, but there appears to be significant issues that need to be discussed prior to GFEC action on the policy. The GFEC will begin reviewing issues related to the proposed policy at its next meeting, invite representatives from key campus offices at future meetings (e.g., Financial Aid) and schedule a joint meeting with the graduate coordinators to discus their reactions to the proposed policy. This will be the major agenda item for the next meeting of the GFEC.
6. Graduate Student Representation
Yvonne Murnane will inform graduate students, through campus E-mail, of the opportunity to serve on the GFEC. The GFEC requested that Dr. Murnane work with Computing Services to develop a graduate student contact list, in order to facilitate direct communication with graduate students.
7. GFEC Meeting Time
