About

They have simple, alternate, and finely toothed elliptical leaves which grow 1 to 5.5 cm long.  It is a small deciduous shrub growing to an average of 20 to 30 feet in height. Has slightly fragrant white 5-petaled flowers that bloom in April before the leaves appear.  Flowers yield small green blueberry-like fruit in late spring. The fruit turns red before maturing into a dark purplish-blue in the early summer. Leaves turn to a orange and red color in the fall.
