Volunteer Opportunities

Career Services assists students who wish to volunteer in the community by helping students to determine their unique interests and available volunteering locations. Volunteering can help students develop career readiness skills, while at the same time, volunteering helps put student talent to use within community agencies. Career Services will refer students to agencies interested in utilizing volunteers.

Examples of sites that host volunteers are:

Museums and libraries
Agencies that work with people with disabilities
Youth mentoring programs
Childcare programs
Hospitals and other medical settings
School and classroom volunteer programs
Environmental volunteers
Hunger and homelessness assistance programs
Youth sports and recreation programs

The Cortland Area Chamber of Commerce maintains a list of organizations that host volunteers: Cortland Community Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer opportunities for these programs (and more!) are available each semester. Please stop by Career Services, Van Hoesen Hall, Room B-5 or call 607-753-4715 for more information or to set up an appointment.
